Visitor Information and Tips

Plan Your Visit

The Kandt House Museum is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, except on April 7 and during the mourning week. On Umuganda, the last Saturday of the month, the museum opens at midday. 

Take a Guided Tour

Enhance your visit to the Kandt House Museum with a private guide for a 1.5 to 2-hour tour, followed by time for self-exploration. 

Explore the Three Main Sections

Begin your visit at the Traditional Royal Palace Replica to explore Rwanda’s royal life before modernization. Next, head to the Inyambo Cattle Enclosure, where you’ll learn about the sacred Inyambo cows and can even try milking or enjoy a traditional dance. End your journey at the Modern Palace, built for King Mutara III in 1932, to witness the evolution of Rwanda’s royal heritage.

Photography Guidelines

Make sure to capture your memories during your visit to the Nyanza Palace Museum! Photography is allowed in most areas, including the traditional palace and Inyambo cattle, which make for great photo opportunities. However, please note that photography is restricted in certain zones, such as the modern palace.
